Curato was established in 2021 and is an online retailer, with a seasonal location in the heart of Muskoka, ON. Merging their backgrounds in design and tech, co-founders and sisters Sydney and Ali Cohen have created destination for all things home and lifestyle. Curato, meaning “Curated” in Italian, is a nod to their roots as well as their distinctly Californian design aesthetic and point of view.
Fuelled by their common love for interior design and wanting to fill a gap in the Muskoka retail market Co-Founders Ali and Sydney Cohen came together to create a digital and pop up destination where one can visit to shop and get style advice for their home or wardrobe.
“A fresh coat of paint works wonders,” says Ali, “We really wanted to highlight local artisans in the shop to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our customers. It adds an element of surprise when one walks in, and a great topic of conversation for when brought home.”
Sydney had a strong vision for how the store should look and feel. “Our belief is that curated goods create an impactful home, and neutrals are our favorite color. I absolutely loved when our clients would visit and say how they feel they have stepped into California. It was a sense of mission accomplished for us”
After discovering their niche in styling cottage’s and being a source for all things interior design, Curato will expand to feature clothing and accessories and 360 interior design services, creating the ultimate one-stop-shop for cottage-goers in the area.
